The latest government advice in Australia is to seek medical help if it is not possible to kill the tick either by freezing of covering in lyclear. This extract was current March 2025:
A very comprehensive booklet on ticks and tick borne diseases was produced for the Australian Association of Bush Regenerators back in 2014, and has everything you could possibly want to know about preventing bites, and then dealing with them. It has sections on the usefulness of various preventative measures including treated clothing, and tests on possible toxicity. (It does recommend removing live ticks, as does the CDC in the USA, contrary to the above latest advice from the Australian Government)
